The major elements of the Phase 1 of maintenance and improvement works were completed by the end of the August 2018, on time and surprisingly for a 175 year old listed building, pretty well to budget.
Since then the walls have been repainted and a picture hanging rail installed. Local artists are now displaying their work within the Hall and the introduction of bookshelves has enabled the once monthly book sale to expand with a permanent presence of several hundred books.
The 1843 acoustics have been much improved with the inclusion of a specifically designed tile system enabling both voice and music to be appreciated throughout the space.
The Hall is now watertight, warm and inviting and this much improved ambiance is reflected in an increased and more diverse use of the building.
Fundraising for Phase 2 of the maintenance and improvement work is now proceeding apace and it is our hope to have new windows, improved toilets and kitchen complete by the end of 2020.
